Meet the Nevada Athletic Trainers' Association Executive Board
Mark D'Anza - President
Mark moved to Nevada in 2006 after finishing his degree at San Diego State University and has resided in Las Vegas ever since. He has served as a secondary school athletic trainer for 8 years before becoming a full time teacher at Durango High School. In addition to the high school, Mark teaches a sports medicine class and an anatomy lab at UNLV. Mark still works events around town and has acted as an athletic trainer for various USA wrestling events around the country and abroad.
Mark will serve as the president of the Nevada Athletic Trainers' Association until the FWATA annual meeting in 2019.
Jennifer Garner - Secretary
Jennifer Garner graduated from Adams State College in 2002 with a degree in Exercise Physiology and Leisure Sciences with an emphasis in Athletic Training. She moved to Las Vegas in 2003 after working as an Athletic Trainer in an orthopedic practice in Colorado Springs. She has worked in various Athletic Training capacities here in Nevada, including roles in secondary schools and performing arts. She is currently teaching in the bio-medical program at Northwest Career and Technical Academy, and Biology labs at UNLV. Jennifer also works as an athletic trainer when needed. She more recently covered soccer at the Special Olympic World Games in LA this past summer.
Jennifer will serve her first term as the secretary for the Nevada Athletic Trainers’ Association until the FWATA annual meeting in 2018.
Michelle Samuel - Treasurer
Michelle has lived in Nevada since 1998. She obtained both a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Injury Management and a Master's Degree in Kinesiology with a Sports Medicine emphasis from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She worked as a secondary school athletic trainer for 6 years before becoming the Clinical Education Coordinator for the Athletic Training Program at UNLV. Michelle has worked clinically in a variety of settings over the last 13 years including secondary schools, university, performing arts, youth and semi-professional sports.
Michelle is serving her 3rd term as treasurer and will remain in her position until FWATA 2018.
Mike Sepiol - President Elect
Mike obtained his B.S. in Athletic Training from the University of Iowa. After graduation, he moved to Nevada in 2009 to attend the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, to achieve his Master’s Degree in Kinesiology with emphasis in Athletic Training. He has worked in variety of settings including collegiate, secondary school, club sports, and mixed martial arts. Currently Mike is employed in a corporate setting while also acting as the Head Athletic Trainer for Heat FC in Las Vegas, a youth soccer organization.
Mike will act as the President Elect until FWATA 2019 when he will assume his role as the President of the Nevada Athletic Trainers' Association.
